About us
Who we are
Mountain View Church has became a strong, close-knit family and caring community. Over the years, our church has sought to give back to the community and has allowed various user groups to join the congregation’s ministry.
The ministry of Mountain View Church of the Brethren began over 60 years ago in the middle of a cow pasture. A group of area churches got together and set out to open new church sites throughout Boise’s expanding city.
Don Morrison and his wife Cathey joined our congregation in leadership over 6 years ago. Don had started his Brethren pastorship in Pennsylvania but was called to Fruitland, ID to fill a vacancy there. He and Cathey had taken a tour of the Brethren churches in Western Idaho and when they stepped into the Mountain View Sanctuary the huge cross on the stage told them they had come home. When the pastorship vacancy called on Don to preach, they had already relocated to Nampa and knew this would be a good match.
Don works with the men’s ministries – Bethel and Iron Sharpens Iron holding Bible studies and visiting the residents of the ministry houses. He is a full-time Nurse Administrator for Terry Reilly so his plate is often full. Cathey works with the women’s ministries and holds a Monday evening Bible study for 15 or more ladies. She serves as the Head Deacon and is often the Worship Leader on any given Sunday. We are very honored to have these two as part of our church.
What we believe
Therefore, [continue to] accept and welcome one another, just as Christ has accepted and welcomed us to the glory of [our great] God.
